Wheelers trophy winners

Springs Wheelers Cycling Club's prize winners. The prize-giving was held at Pollak Park Golf Club on Saturday.

According to Ray Roodt, club chairman, they are actively involved with Ride for Sight and proudly carry the Retina SA logo on their club cycling shirts.

“The event, held on on February 18, saw R700 000 donated towards researching a cure for blindness,” he says.

Derick Edwards received the World Champion trophy on behalf of his son Brad Edwards, the u-23 World Triathlon Champion.

George van Maanan received the Best Male mountain bike and Performance of the Year trophies.

The Best Female mountain bike award was given to Alison Lingard, while Lexi Lambropoulous received the Best Male road bike award.

Best Female road bike trophy was given to Tammy Whitby.

Another couple Dennis Williams and his wife Marisa won the Most Improved mountain bike male and female.

The Best Master, all categories trophy, was handed over to Kevin Lawrence.

“We are proud to announce that we have been part of Ride for Sight for the past 29 years,” says Ray.
