“I feel the location of my property leaves me vulnerable to break-ins.

“My home has been burgled quite often in the last two years,” she says.

She alleges thieves from surrounding areas use this veld as an escape route, and there have been many times she hasn’t slept a wink due to the fear of someone invading her home.

She mentions her biggest fear is being ambushed by robbers.

The only form of protection, Yolande claims, the community has is from security vehicles that patrol the area.

“What happens when the patrol vehicles aren’t here when we actually need them?” she says.

The Advertiser contacted the Ekurhuleni Metro for comment on the issue but none had been received at the time of publishing.
