Elderly man dies in six-vehicle accident on N17 in Springs

Two of the cars overturned and another rolled down an embankment next to the highway during the accident.

Netcare 911 paramedics responded to the accident.

The driver of the vehicle that rolled down the embankment was an elderly male who died of his injuries on the scene.

Paramedics assessed several people who had been involved in the crash.

Two of those who had sustained moderate injuries were transported by ambulance services to hospital for further assessment and care.

The ‘Jaws of Life’ had to be used to access the deceased.

There was heavy mist in the area, motorists are requested to switch their vehicles head lights on to make themselves more visible and to increase their following distances when mist obscures visability.
