Champion of Pollark Park training hard for tournament

Kim de Klerk (21), a member of the Pollak Park Golf Club is practicing hard for upcoming tournaments in which she represents Pollak Park and the Southern Cape province. Kim sustained a serious ankle injury and is now working to overcome it. She has been the club’s women’s champion for the past few years.

The Pensioners competition was held on Thursday with Attie Fourie taking first place with 32 shots.

Barry Gouws came in at a close second with 31 shots.

The Friday Meat competition winners were:

Mike Jennings in first place with 38 shots.

Derek Waters in second place with 37 shots.

The best front nine holes went to Frikkie Mynhardt with 19 shots on count out.

Best back nine holes went to Gary de Klerk with 20 shots.

The Individual Stableford competition was held on Saturday.

With 39 shots, Hilton McAuliffe placed first of the day.

Sandy Winn came in second with 37 shots on count out.

In third place was Heinrich Bronkhorst with 37 shots.

Piet Kriel placed fourth with 36 shots.

The Sunday morning I.P.S winners were:

Frikkie Strauss in first place with 38 shots.

In the second place, Eugene Strauss with 35 shots.

Basil Houndalas placed third with 32 shots.

The club will be hosting its Winter Championships on Saturday and Sunday.
