The man who was found with multiple stab wounds to his chest in front of his shack last Monday has been identified as Sylvester Sekatane.

The body was found at Daggafontein Informal Settlement at 1.07pm, on Monday.

According to Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesperson, Sekatane was a 44-year-old man who had lived in the informal settlement for quite some time.

Ramphora believes the man’s shack might have been broken in to because the door was damaged.

Police called the paramedics who declared the man dead on the scene.

“The deceased was stabbed in his chest three times and also had a burn wound to his head,” says Ramphora.

Police appeal to the public for information in relation to the case of murder.
