Local tennis player shines on the court

Danielle Chapman (11) has done well on the tennis court.

Danielle Chapman (11) competed in three Tennis South Africa (TSA) tournaments in the past two months.

The Grade Five learner from Laerskool Selection Park played in the Gauteng North tournament from June 23-26.

Chapman came first in the girls u-12 Platinum draw, beating Madison Ann Edwards 6-0, 6-1 in the final.

Alongside her partner, Vanessa Foley, Chapman also came first in the girls u-12 Doubles Platinum draw, winning the final match 7-5, 6-2.

In the Gauteng East tournament from June 2-9, in the girls’ u-12 Platinum draw, the Selection Park Tennis Club member came in both the single and doubles games.

In the Gauteng Central tournament from May 12-19, in the girls’ u-12 Platinum draw, Chapman was the runner-up in the singles final but claimed the doubles title with partner Amelie van Zyl.
