Strubenvale resident Markus Swanepoel has been waiting for his driver’s license for over two months now.
“I applied for my new licence on July 16, six weeks before it expired as we are told to do and I haven’t heard back from anyone,” says Swanepoel.
What is frustrating Swanepoel the most is that he has now been forced to get a temporary licence to avoid a hefty fine should he be stopped by the traffic police.
“It’s really unfair that I had to pay for a temporary licence when I applied in time for my new one.
“They should have told us that there was a delay and they should waive the fee for a temporary licence,” says Swanepoel.
Residents say this has been happening in the Nigel and Springs Licensing Department.
The Department of Transport and the metro failed to respond in time for publication.
